A POEM ABOUT MY DAUGHTER AND GWC'S HAT
Blog Image
Every August we hit the glorious East Neuk of Fife for the Pittenweem Arts Festival and this year was no exception, bringing friends with us and having friends come up during the week, including the Read Raw crowd, and GWC gave Sophie a loan of his hat, and this is what he wrote about it:

In Pittenweem

she borrows the straw fedora
I wear to shelter from the sun
48 years separate us
she thinks the hat is cool
and I have a sudden warm feeling
I have bought something
that looks good on her
it is as if I have found style
although I know
it is that I have a head that burns
in the sun
while she has a smile
that eclipses it
