Renfrewshire Poetry Competition

As a Director of Read Raw Ltd,  I'll be involved in judging three heats of poetry competition that is part of the Renfrewshire side of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, details below.

Read Raw Ltd will be running several projects in the run up and during the Scottish Mental Health Arts & Film Festival.

The theme for this year's festival is "Walking in my Shoes".

Poetry Windows

This is an open invitation to the public to submit their poems for display in shop windows throughout Paisley during the run up to, and during the festival.  Submissions for the Poetry windows can be made either by e-mail to putting 'Poetry Windows' in the subject line, or by post to:-

Poetry Competition

This will comprise three heats and a final

The dates and venues for the heats are:-

The Brown Bull, Main Street, Lochwinnoch                          Tuesday 10th July 2012

Callums, High Street Johnstone                                              Tuesday 17th July 2012

Haunt Bar, Arts Centre, Paisley                                             Tuesday 24th July 2012

The Final will be held at the Haunt Bar, Arts Centre Paisley on Tuesday 7th August. 

  • Each poet will have six minutes in which to read their work.
  • At least one copy of your set of poems should be supplied to the judges at the start of the heat.

Prizes are:-

1st Place:- Gift Vouchers for Braehead Shopping Centre to the value of £100 and the opportunity to read their work at the official launch of the Festival on the 27th September 2012.

2nd place:-      Gift Vouchers to the value of £50

3rd place:-       Gift Vouchers to the value of £25

You may also enter by turning up on the night at any of the heats and putting your name down.  You will then be given a spot if available.

Poetry Anthology

Selected poems from all entrants to the Poetry Competition and submissions from the Poetry Windows will be included in an anthology to be published and launched at the official opening of the festival.

Poetry at the Museum

Following the success of last year's event, we are repeating an afternoon of poetry performance and chat by Read Raw Ltd in Paisley Museum on the 4th October 2012.
